It's astounding how many Billions of $$$$$$$$$$$$ the natives have gotten and are still getting but they don't have enough to get safe drinking water or good housing. Why is this? My guess is very poor management by the chiefs and councils. There needs to be accountability to band members and to taxpayers. Many Canadians would appreciate a Free house, land for a garden and free university education.

How about accountability by the government as to how much actually went to Indigenous. Money just flowed to programs from the liberals, there have been standing committees investigating poor management, disappearance of funds and liberals won’t release documents. Very poor management and nothing is ever done about it.

Defeated people have no rights.

This is what happens in Wars no mater where they take place. Negotiations follow. Concessions or in this case Treaties are made with the rulling class. So, what are these native people wanting, when one sees how much the Canadian Government supports them. The problem lies with some of the Chiefs who do not appropriate the government funding appropriately into their communities.

What they seem to want and are always yelling about is wanting the land back. It was never theirs! It was squatters rights originally when their ancestors walked across the Bering Strait and took up residence. If they couldn't hang on to it when the Europeans came...well too bad, that's on them.

I don’t totally blame the people I blame the stupidity of spineless government workers who are afraid to do anything that might upset them.

In 1968, Pierre Trudeau didn't want Alberta to reap the benefits of its oil resources by putting high taxes in oil export to the US and the federal government took a huge percentage of the revenue. That was when Alberta independence sentiment started. Premier Peter Lougheed called it "the biggest ripoff in Confederation's history. That's when the energy wars between Alberta and the federal government started during the 70's.  In 1980, Pierre Trudeau created the National Energy Program which was designed to give the federal government complete control of Alberta's energy industry, especially, to take money from Alberta's energy industry. That was the start of Alberta's economic devastation and was the single greatest betrayal of the federal government to Alberta.

You wonder how many eagles?

A few years back I volunteered at a local powwow and I wondered the exact same thing. So I got to thinking and had the opportunity to look closer at some of the headdresses. Yup you’re right , right there “ made in China” labels. That’s how true native culture works. Buy it from China and fool the white trash. Well white trash was what I was called during another volunteer site I was at.

White trash for trying to make the site a safe place…. Go figure.

This is not second hand it happened to me.

They are like the Bible says about the grave, and fire. Will never have enough. They will take everything we have, everything we own, and still expect us to pay them “damages”..

So much in here, well said....my husband and I have kids in that 16-24 range, and they see tremendous hope in Alberta Independence. We are going to pound that drum until we can't, or we get it done.👊🙏🌱

And yes, the Cheifs take the money...all this bullshit posturing, suddenly they are all on their soapbox...is just that, lies. They haven't reslized yet that they are still pawns sadly, and it will be to the detriment of the vulnerable as always.

Hard work and self sacrifice, and solid families...that builds strong society's...not handouts.🙏

We truly aren’t able to comment on what happened thousands of years ago to FN peoples. I feel it was horrific to split up families, take advantage of women (unfortunately not surprising horny gang mentality dudes). And what the FN did was also horrific, scalping is not just the hair and skin. Any way.

I don’t know how to fix the problems on reservations. Problem two: The people living in beautiful homes now dumps because of???
