US Influencers Claim Deception in Alleged Russian Election Interference Plot
A US indictment accuses Russian state broadcaster RT of paying $10 million to Tenet Media, a US-based conservative platform, to distribute content with hidden Russian government messaging. The goal was allegedly to influence the 2024 US election by promoting divisive narratives aligned with Russian interests. Tenet Media, founded by Lauren Chen and Liam Donovan, employs prominent right-wing influencers like Tim Pool and Benny Johnson, who claim they were unaware of the scheme and see themselves as victims if the allegations are proven. The indictment charges RT employees with conspiracy and alleges they directed the media operation behind the scenes.
