Pro-Palestinian Protest Halts Toronto Pride Parade, Sparks Controversy
On Sunday, a pro-Palestinian protest disrupted Toronto's Pride parade, leading organizers to cut short the event, which attracts attendees from around the world. Pride Toronto Executive Director Kojo Modeste expressed disappointment, citing the protest's interference with a celebration meant for the queer community. Canadian Pride Declines: Poll Reveals Growing Concerns Ahead of Canada Day
A new poll by Leger shows that Canadian national pride has declined compared to a few years ago. Of the 1,600 respondents surveyed ahead of Canada Day, 76% still consider themselves proud Canadians, but 45% feel less proud than five years ago. Key concerns include income inequality, poverty, and the state of the health care system. Conservative voters and Quebec residents are less likely to view Canada as one of the best countries in the world.
